Abstract

Today workers around the world are still in unsafe working conditions and are at risk of causing health problems. One of the cases of occupational diseases is skin disorders. Workers in the informal sector, especially women fishermen groups in the coastal area of Maccini Baji often work in a less conducive environment and ignore the health/safety of the poor because of capital and lack of knowledge about health issues about how to prevent and the dangers of skin diseases that affect work productivity. The purpose of this community service program was to increase the knowledge, attitudes and practices of women fishermen groups through health education on how to prevent and harm skin diseases. Community service activities used the lecture method and group discussion and evaluation of activities is carried out through Pre-Post-tests. The participants were 20 fisherwomen consisting of 2 groups, namely the Bahari group of 10 people and the Mappatuwo group of 10 people. The results of community service activities indicate that there was an increase in the knowledge, attitudes and practices of women fishermen groups about how to prevent and harm skin diseases. So it is concluded that health education can lead to changes in knowledge, attitudes and actions of women fishermen groups that can increase worker productivity. Support from the community and local government was needed after the completion of the program, so that it can be carried out continuously and consistently by the women's fishing groups of Bahari and Mappatuwo.
