Community Collaboration in Sustainable Peatland Management in the Coastal Area, Bukit Batu District, Bengkalis Regency
Abstract
Riau Province has a large area of forest and burnt land. One of the areas experiencing land and forest fires is Sungai Pakning Village, Bukit Batu District, Bengkalis Regency, the majority of which is peatland. For this reason, it is necessary to build a pattern of ecosystem management that involves all parties, so that the community can feel the benefits in real terms and so on. Their existence is expected to protect the ecosystem. So that the community has an interest in using all available natural resources in a responsible and sustainable manner. In general, this study aims to answer the big question “How is Community Collaboration in sustainable peatland management in the coastal area of Bukit Batu District, Kab. Bengkalis. This study uses a qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation and interactive documentation techniques to gain an in-depth understanding of the research problem. Informants determined by purposive sampling technique. After collecting the data, it was analyzed by means of the Interactive Analysis Model. The results of this study are expected to provide constructive policy input, especially to institutions related to peatland management.
