‘Hulanthe’ as the Symbols of Gorontalo Cultural Heritage
Abstract
Gorontalo is one of province in South of Celebes-Indonesia which is inhabited by five various ethnic groups in the form of Pohala’a (family). Those are Gorontalo, Suwawa, Limboto, Bolango, and Atinggola ethnics. The awakening of Gorontalo ethnic group has its heritage ‘pohala’a’ that symbolized by ‘Hulanthe’ which is used by the people of Gorontalon every civil event. ‘Hulanthe consists of a number of tools collected in a round tray in which rise symbolizes the earth, seven eggs are the symbol of truth, seven lemons are of true knowledge, seven nutmeg and seven cloves are symbols of ‘Duluwo lo Pohala’a’ (Two families) from the original people of Gorontalo.
