Assessing the Legal Culture of Youth in their Participation in Sustainable Regional Development in Papua

Abstract

Sustainable regional development is defined as a form of improving the quality of life of the community in a certain area which can be seen from all aspects of community life holistically. Of course, this is supported by the participation of the community in the regional development program. Youth as an integral part of society has a strong role as a generation that carries a heavy task for regional development in the future. From this description, it is found that youth are important driving actors in sustainable development. In an area like Papua, which factually has many advantages in terms of geographical area, natural resources, and diverse ethnography, so with this great potential, the challenge of sustainable regional development will become a major issue for Papua in the future. The big question is how to identify the ideal youth to take a role in the development, to see this, it is necessary to have an interesting aspect to study to measure the legal culture of the Papuan youth themselves. The legal culture essentially lies in the level of legal awareness of Youth which is manifested in their behavior in society. To measure and measure, this article uses descriptive research with empirical data collection methods through interviews. The results of this data collection are expected to be able to explain empirically the condition of the legal culture of Youth in the community concerning regional development, however, concerning the interview, due to the large youth population, the sampling will focus on research locations on campus, especially at the Yapis Amal Ilmiah University. Wamena. The results of the findings in this study illustrate that regional development is closely related to the legal culture in society, especially for the youth themselves, where the existence of legal culture in the form of legal obedience can accelerate regional development that is consistent with local wisdom and is sustainable.
