Abstract

BACKGROUND. : Stunting remains a significant public health issue globally, particularly in developing countries like Indonesia.This study aims to analyze the influence of maternal socioeconomic characteristics and self- determination on the care behaviors of stunted toddlers in Manuju Health Center, Gowa Regency. METHODE : The cross-sectional design approach was conducted in Gowa Regency in 2023. the sample size was determined as 102 people. Data were collected using a combination of interviews, observations, and questionnaires. RESULT & DISCUSSION : The findings indicated that intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, and amotivation significantly influenced care behaviors, while age, parity, economic status did not show significant influence. CONCLUSION : This study suggests that interventions should focus on enhancing maternal motivation and knowledge to improve stunting care practices.
