Abstract

Sassa Village is one of the villages closest to the forest area which has a relationship between the community and the forest. Around the Sassa protected forest, there are local communities, namely the Limola indigenous people, precisely in sassa hamlet and Makumpa hamlet. The indigenous people of Limola still uphold the beliefs of customs that are still strong. The main objective of this study is to identify the form of local wisdom of the Limola indigenous people in the use of timber forest products and non-timber forest products (NTFPs). The method used is Snowball Sampling, whose informant data includes the Limola Indigenous people who live around the Sassa Protected Forest area, especially in Sassa Hamlet and Makumpa Hamlet. The respondents consisted of 20 people. The data collected are the structure of the Limola customary institution and the local wisdom of the community consisting of norms, customary rules, and sanctions in the management of forest products. The indigenous people of Limola fully understand the importance of maintaining and protecting forest areas, especially protected and indigenous forest areas. One form of utilization of wood forest products is as medicine and firewood. The community also utilizes and manages non-timber forest products (HHBK) such as rattan, bamboo, palm, turmeric, fruit, honey, and fruits. The Limola indigenous people also apply customary rules related to social institutions in processing forest resources, such as not being allowed to burn wasps in forest areas, not being allowed to cut down bamboo shoots, let alone taking bamboo shoots in customary forest areas or protected forests. The indigenous people of Limola realize the importance of protecting the forest, be it customary forest or protected forest that has been determined by the Government.
