COMMITMENT, INSTITUTIONAL PARTICIPATION AND CONVERGENCE ON ONE DAY ONE EGG PROGRAM AND ‘MPOK DARTI’ AS INNOVATIONS TO OVERCOME STUNTING IN BARRU DISTRICT
Abstract
BACKGROUND : Overcoming stunting problems must be carried out in a comprehensive, integrated and multi-sectoral manner. Quality Family Village program is one of government’s effort that focuses on the issue of preventing stunting by mobilizing participation and synergy between various institutions in the community to play a role in preventing stunting. One of the priority programs of this program is accelerating the reduction of stunting, empowering the family economy, then family planning and health services, and handling social problems. METHOD : This was a qualitative study involved 15 informant. Data was obatain through indepth interview and focus group discussion. RESULTS & DISCUSSION: One Day One Egg is a program which aim to provide one egg per day to children. The main objective of the program is to accelerate the addition of nutrition for children by providing food assistance in order to reduce stunting. This program is focus on children at risk of stunting to be consumed for 6 months. In addition, we also ensure that the eggs are consumed by the target. ‘Mpok Darti’ (kelompok sadar stunting) program or Stunting Awareness Group, is an innovation from Departement of Social in Barru Regency as an effort to accelerate the reduction in stunting rates through changes in healthy living behavior with a sensitive, community-based approach. CONCLUSION : one day one egg and “Mpok Darti” are two programs that are innovations of the barru district government as an effort to accelerate the reduction of stunting. these two programs support each other which are community empowerment and involve multi-sectors.
