DESCRIPTION OF HEALTH INFORMATION NEEDS FOR UMRAH PILGRIMS
Abstract
BACKGROUND : Umrah is one of the mass gatherings that has the risk of transmitting travel diseases. The higher the public interest in performing Umrah, the higher the risk of transmitting travel diseases. Pilgrims need to learn about the risks of diseases that can be obtained during Umrah. Moreover, the destination country for Umrah is a country with endemic meningitis status. One factor that controls risk behavior is the availability of health promotion services for tourists, in this case, Umrah pilgrims. The description of health description of Health Information Needs for Umrah Pilgrims aims to obtain an overview of the health information needed by Umrah pilgrims when Umrah. METHOD : The research was conducted using quantitative research using a descriptive-analytical approach. The sample used in the study was 66 respondents. The criteria selected were Makassar pilgrims who had just returned from Umrah. RESULTS & DISCUSSION: As many as 77.9% of pilgrims need information about the disease risk when performing Umrah and disease prevention. This proves that pilgrims are aware of the need to prevent disease while performing Umrah. However, most pilgrims do not know the risk of disease that can be obtained during Umrah. CONCLUSION : To prevent disease, Umrah pilgrims need information regarding the types of diseases they are at risk of contracting while performing the Umrah pilgrimage, information on the vaccines needed, and health service procedures in Saudi Arabia.
