PROMOTING DENTAL HEALTH TO ENHANCE ISLAMIC VALUE AMOMG TEACHERS AT SDN 99 KAMPUNG BERU, TAKALAR
Abstract
BACKGROUND: Issues related to oral and dental health are still widespread in Indonesia, mainly due to a lack of awareness and knowledge among the public, including teachers. In the context of Islam, oral hygiene carries significant spiritual importance, which can be utilized as an educational tool to promote better oral health. This research sought to examine the impact of promoting oral and dental health, based on Islamic values, on the enhancement of teachers knowledge at SDN 99 Kampung Beru, Takalar METHOD: The study employed an observational analytic design using a cross -sectional approach. A total of 30 teachers were selected as respondents through a total sampling technique. Data were gathered using pre-test and post-test questionnaires, which were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test with SPSS version 29. RESULTS & DISCUSSION : The results indicated a significant increase in the average knowledge scores of the teachers, rising from 6.87 (pre-test) to 9.63 (post-test), with a p-value of 0.000. CONCLUSION: This demonstrates that promoting oral and dental health through education based on Islamic values effectively improved the teachers' understanding of the significance of oral hygiene. In conclusion, the study found that promoting oral health based on Islamic values plays a significant role in improving the knowledge of teachers at SDN 99 Kampung Beru, Takalar
