Abstract

BACKGROUND: The halal food industry in Indonesia is critical for food safety and consumer protection, especially given its growing market. The absence of an effective regulatory framework for halal abattoirs presents challenges in ensuring food safety and integrity of halal products. This paper examines the imperative for regulations pertaining to halal abattoirs, emphasizing their contribution to improving food safety in Indonesia's halal food sector. METHOD: This research utilizes a mixed methods approach, examining current legislation, regulatory frameworks, and case studies to assess the efficacy of present procedures. RESULTS & DISCUSSION : This research suggests that the establishment of a comprehensive and standardized regulation for halal abattoirs is essential to improve traceability, safety, and overall food product security in Indonesia. with the chi-square method measuring tool to clar ify the effect of halal abattoirs on the number of micro -enterprises that can label their products.
