THE INFLUENCE OF INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL FACTORS ON THE DYNAMICS OF RICE FARMER GROUPS (A STUDY OF FARMER GROUPS IN MAPPESANGKA VILLAGE, PONRE DISTRICT, BONE REGENCY)
Abstract
BACKGROUND: Farmer groups are a forum for developing the strengths they have to be able to move and encourage the behavior of their members towards achieving group goals, so that farmer groups will develop to be more dynamic. The dynamics of farmer group members are joint movements carried out by farmer group members simultaneously and concurrently in carrying out all farmer group activities in achieving their goals. The objectives of the study are (1) To describe the characteristics of rice farmers (2) To analyze the dynamics of rice farmer groups. (3) To analyze the influence of farmer characteristics on farmer group dynamics. (4) To analyze the influence of internal factors on farmer group dynamics. (5) To analyze the influence of external factors on farmer group dynamics. METHOD: The research population was 285 people taken from 15 farmer groups at the research location. The determination of the sample of chairmen and secretaries used the purposive sampling method totaling 30 people and the determination of the number of member samples using the Slovin formula totaling 72 people so that the total number of respondents for administrators and members was 102 people. The research method used quantitative descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. RESULTS & DISCUSSION: The results of the study show that (1) The characteristics of rice farmers in Mappesangka Village, Ponre District, Bone Regency are on average 34 years old, 99 male farmers and 4 female farmers, the average number of family dependents is 3 people and the average length of time farmers have been farming is 19 years. (2) Based on the 8 components of farmer group dynamics, it shows that farmer group dynamics are in the dynamic category. (3) The characteristics of farmers have a positive a nd significant effect on farmer group dynamics. (4) Internal factors have a positive and significant effect on farmer group dynamics. (5) External factors have a significant and significant effect on farmer group dynamics. CONCLUSION: Farmer characteristics, internal factors, and external factors have a positive and significant influence on farmer group dynamics. It is hoped that group members will remain enthusiastic about carrying out group activities and maintain cohesiveness withi n the group, thereby achieving satisfaction in carrying out activities.
