Abstract

BACKGROUND: Generation Z, born between 1997 and 2012, has a high level of exposure to digital technology. This phenomenon presents both opportunities and challenges for the dissemination of religious values, particularly the preaching of moderation. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of digital religious literacy in supporting the acceptance of preaching of moderation among Generation Z. METHOD: This study used a systematic literature review method by analyzing 40 empirical studies screened from 500 academic papers. Data were extracted using a large language model, focusing on the study design, population, digital platform, variables, and key findings. RESULTS & DISCUSSION : The review results indicate that digital interventions such as digital Quran platforms, social media (Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp), and dedicated apps (e.g., Our Muslim Generation) significantly increase religious literacy and religious moderation. A stu dy by Ma'arif et al. (2024) reported an increase in moderation awareness from 0% to 100%, while the OMG app increased tolerance scores by 46%. Factors such as business expectations, social influence, and content quality are key determinants of success. CONCLUSION: Religious digital literacy plays a crucial role in strengthening moderate preaching among Generation Z. However, its effectiveness depends heavily on content quality, source credibility, and platform suitability. It is recommended to develop content that is interactive, credible, and appropriate to the characteristics of Generation Z.
