INTEGRASI KURIKULUM HALAL PADA PENDIDIKAN TINGGI (STUDI KASUS DI PERGURUAN TINGGI ISLAM)
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the integration of the halal curriculum in Islamic higher education through a case study of seven Islamic universities in Makassar. The research focuses on the planning, implementation, and evaluation processes of the halal curri culum as well as the challenges faced in its application. A qualitative approach with a case study method was used, and data were collected through in -depth interviews, field observations, and academic document analysis such as course outlines (RPS), syll abi, and curriculum guides. The seven institutions involved in this study are Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI), UIN Alauddin Makassar, Universitas Islam Makassar (UIM), Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, Universitas DDI Makassar, STIBA Makassar, and STAI Al-Azhar Gowa. The results indicate that most universities have begun to integrate or incorporate halal principles into their curricula, either through specific halal-related courses or by strengthening Islamic values in general and professional education. The integration approach is carried out using various models, such as thematic, interdisciplinary, and Islamic competency -based approaches. However, implementation still faces several challenges, including limited lecturer competence in the field of halal, the absence of a standardized national halal module, and a lack of workshops and coordination among higher education institutions. The study recommends the need for synergy between the government, universities as educational institutions, and halal certification bodies to promote the strengthening of national and sustainable halal curriculum policies. The integration of the halal curriculum has proven not only to strengthen students’ Islamic identity but also to prepare them to become graduates ready to face the challenges of the global halal industry ethically and professionally, and to respond to modern globalization.
