This Book of Abstracts presents the collection of abstracts from the UMI International Student Symposium (ISS) 2024 – Batch I, held on Saturday, 13 July 2024, and organized by the Office of International Affairs (KUI) of Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI). The symposium brought together students, researchers, and scholars from Indonesia and abroad to share their ideas and research findings under the theme "Roles of Humanities, Sciences, and Engineering in Shaping a Better Future for All" — embodying the spirit of interdisciplinary collaboration among the humanities, sciences, and engineering in addressing global challenges toward a better future.
This edition featured distinguished keynote and invited speakers, namely Apt. Abdul Malik, S.Si., M.Sc., PhD (Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Muslim Indonesia), Prof. Dr. Shamima Abdul Rahman (Universiti Cyberjaya), Suryani Eka Wijaya, Ph.D (Bappeda NTB, Fulbright Scholar), Dr. Rusdiah Salam, M.Hum (Dean of Faculty of Letters, Universitas Muslim Indonesia), Dr. Tiena G Amran (Universitas Trisakti), and Prof. Hervé Boileau (Université Savoie Mont Blanc, France), whose insights enriched the discussions throughout the symposium.
The symposium also featured parallel presentation sessions covering a range of topics, including Renewable Energy, Health, Humanity, Agriculture, Fisheries & Environment, Economics, and Social Sciences, showcasing the scholarly work of participants from various countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, and France.
